Patio & Paving Installation
A patio is the floor of your outdoor room, and it has to stay flat, drain away from the house and survive frost for twenty years. That comes down to the base and the falls, the things a cheap job hides and a good one gets right. We build patios to last, not to photograph well for a season.
The base is the patio
We excavate to the correct depth, lay and compact a structural sub-base, and bed every slab on a full mortar bed rather than five spot blobs. Full-bed laying is what stops slabs rocking, cracking and staining, and it is the corner most often cut.
Falls, drainage and the damp course
Every patio is laid with a slight fall so water runs away from your house, never toward it, and we keep paving the correct distance below the damp-proof course. Get this wrong and you invite damp into the building; we design it in from the start.
Stone, porcelain or block
Indian sandstone and limestone give natural character; porcelain is near-zero-maintenance and stays clean; block paving suits drives and heavy use. We will walk you through cost, upkeep and how each ages, then lay whichever you choose to the same standard.
